The Final Destination

Only two major releases this week and they’re both geared toward making you scream

The Final Destination

The most recent in the series that has garnered much popular attention for it’s unusually unique ways of killing people, has taken the next big step and come out 3D. I cannot help but wonder if the 3D effects will help or hurt the overall scare factor. This highly successful series has for the first time completely refused any pre-screenings, and this includes for critics. This could imply that Warner Brothers is not entirely confident about the latest addition to the Blockbuster series or that they simply want to keep the mystery alive. The movie follows the same premise we’re expecting, with the lead character, Nick, saving all of his friends from death and then watching as they all meet grisly ends anyway.

Halloween II

This feature directed by Rob Zombie, also went the route of shutting out critics which means that movie reviewers had very little to keep them busy this week. Halloween II promises to have the same feel and scare factor as the original with Michael Myers stalking yet another victim, this time through a hospital. Hopefully we see this movie creating a return toward what made the original 1978 Halloween great. More suspense and actual scares than simply nudity and gore.

Still in Theaters

For those of you who don’t want to be scared, check out these movies.

The Time Traveler’s Wife

Beautiful and heart-wrenching this is not to be missed. With amazing performances all around and a very well done story, there is little to complain about with this one.

Shorts

A wonderfully funny and adorable kids movie that really seems to understand kids and people in general. This is a fun and entertaining movie for everyone.
