The Golden Globes of 2011. Well lets simply say it was nothing to write home about. The designer dresses at the golden globes were for the most part fairly unexciting. Sometimes, there were only a few that seemingly stood out as amazing. Lets begin with a handful of the few which caught my extra attention (for good or bad reasons).
First there was Scarlett Johansson. Even though the garment was pale in shade and really whispy it still appeared across as really elegant and couture. The longer sleeve which was unlined and the light beading throughout the entire gown was a lovely picture. Her hair and jewelry was quite flattering. That was not a knock out dress but still was fairly a lovely development in deed. This was actually one of my top 3 picks merely because of the simplicity of glamor it gave.
Normally I always enjoy what Julianne Moore is sporting to a red carpet event. But this time not so much. It was ill fitting, the color was bad for her skin tone (or at least it did not translate good enough via TV) and the cut was just awkward on her shape.
Other ball gowns that I in fact favored on the red carpet were worn by Eva Longoria. Her gown was amazing. It is one of my 3 favorites. It turned up to be a velvet fabric carried out in a gorgeous dark color of black. The quite little hint of an accent on the hip was tasteful. And the cut of the neck line and short sleeves was genius. The gown was so gorgeous I did not even become bothered with her very small trip over the skirt as she was arriving out to present an award.
A couple of let downs however were Jennifer Lopez and Sandra Bullock. Jennifer is constantly rather lovely but the gown was not a home run for me. Great but just not my cup of tea. And poor Sandra’s stylist got it incorrect this time. Even though she may have thought she was lovely sporting it …it was not lovely to glance at.
And lets discuss my woman Jane Lynch. She will come throughout as a mildly stereotypical butch lesbian so I don’t anticipate to much from her in regards to wearing beaded evening gowns. With that said, her dress was not all that great but it was not bad (for her) either. The material appeared quite odd and the cut & fit was a bit off. But once again I don’t count on too much from her so all in all it was not too darn bad.
Now we all realize Natalie Portman is a gorgeous woman. And I have discovered a few say they preferred her pregnant style attire with the bloom thing on her dress. Me, I felt it a bit distracting. Perhaps if the shades of the flower adornment were various I could have stomached it more but as it is I can say I was not a fan.
Claire Danes formal wear for the Golden Globes was really nice, non-daring and quite simple. It did not wow me but I also did not detest it. She turned out to be very well assembled and looked lovely. But it was simply a bit too dull for this kind of a huge social event.
And finally, a formal wear piece which I thought was extremely age proper but even now had a bit of an edge to it was Jane Fonda’s evening wear. When she stepped on the platiform I gasped as I felt it is merely stunning and so appropriate for the occasion and for her. She looked incredible in which dark beaded gown. This was one of my top 3.
Most of the fashion creative designers and celeb stylist were actually on the ball this weekend. But a lot fell short of the target for me. But it is constantly fun to see in any case.
