There are many Blu-rays coming out this fall just in time for Black Friday 2011. More movies are released during the fall than any other time of the year. Film releases are often scheduled specifically to coincide with winter sales. Some straight-to-video releases and special edition collections are even created for this purpose.
Many highly anticipated family films come out just a few days prior to Thanksgiving, such as Beauty and the Beast: Belle’s Magical World. If you’ve got some classic movie buffs on your list you might also want to check out some of the tried and true favorites that are being released on that same day, such as 12 Angry Men and Way Down East. Just one short week before Thanksgiving, comedy classic The Big Lebowski comes out on Blu-ray. Even a few films are coming to Blu-ray for those who like a good scream, including horror classics like The Prophecy which comes out prior to Black Friday, in the first week of November.
Dozens of other great films come to Blu-ray right ahead of the Black Friday sales. Some are classic collector’s edition films and others are newly released masterpieces. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the final film in the series, comes out just ahead of the holidays.
Black Friday is a great day to take advantage of massive sales, particularly on entertainment-related gifts. What’s even better is that most stores will have massively marked down Blu-ray players on sale for the early birds, as well as video game console systems, like the PS3, that support playback. So even those who don’t yet have one of the high-definition players can get one for themselves or a loved one at the lowest prices of the year. What’s better than being able to buy your movie fanatic a collection of great Blu-ray films and an awesome new player at a fraction of the regular cost?
