Mark Wahlberg has revealed he would be happy to step in for Robert Downey Jr in the Iron Man movies.
The Fighter star admitted that his superhero longings have yet to be fulfilled.
“I would like to take over the Iron Man franchise for Robert Downey. It’s one of those things where I kind of like playing real people, I’ve never been asked,” he told Yahoo! Movies.
“It would really have to depend on the part and the situation,” he added.
Although he dreams of playing a superhero, Mark admits: “I ain’t wearing no tights man.”
The 42-year-old, who next stars in cop comedy 2 Guns alongside Denzel Washington, said he was once considered to play Robin in Joel Schumacher‘s Batman Forever. Chris O’Donnell took the role with Val Kilmer as Batman in the 1995 superhero movie.
“Once I was kind of being talked about for the Robin role in Batman Forever. Somebody dodged a bullet!” he joked.
Mark, who next stars in Transformers 4, said he would also be up for doing more work with CGI characters.
“I feel more confident as an actor but I always needed to find parts that I could identify with and were grounded in reality, but after doing Ted and that CGI bear and now working with the Autobots, all that went out of the window and I feel I actually like not dealing with real people,” he added.
