There is a reason people are called Americans. Does it matter what your ethnic background or native land is? It shouldn’t because we call ourselves American! If you will not die for your country, serve and protect your country, and at the very least represent this country, then you should not call yourself American! Americans can be any color of race, of any religion, of any ethnicity, but you must be willing to live and die for your country. IF not, please do not call yourself or label yourself any type of American.
