It’s the holiday season once again. “Some Awful Version of Jingle Bells” is playing on the radio and almost everyone has some Christmas lights up. It’s time to find some gifts for your friends and family once again!

Box sets make fantastic gifts and each year there are new box sets available with CDs or dvds. This year the Remastered John Lennon Signature CD Box Set came out to celebrate what should have been the legendary Beatle’s 70th birthday. All of his post Beatles work can be heard in beautifully remastered versions in this box set.

The Lost Complete Series Box Set is also new for 2010. This great science fiction program ended after a fantastic six year run as one of the most suspenseful and surprising series in television history. It is a fantastic gift for everyone who is a fan of the show and an even better gift to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet. I would really love to be able to see it all for the first time once again.

A complete series box set really makes a cool gift. Of course that’s only true if it is a box set of a really good show! Here are some of the TV box sets that I suggest:

David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. This show only lasted for two seasons and it’s twenty years old now. But it’s definitely one of the all time great TV series in my opinion. This is a fantastic gift for anyone who appreciates the unusual.

Freaks and Geeks. What is it with fantastic shows and getting canceled? This one only made it for one season of 18 shows. But it was a truly great one season. Each and every episode is a true classic. Hilarious and insightful.

HBO’s Six Feet Under. This is a good choice for any thoughtful family member or friend. I think this is among the greatest television programs ever. It’s about the most serious subject matter (death) but it’s also quite amusing sometimes. (usually in a pretty dark sort of way.)

The Wire. Another brilliant HBO show. I won’t even start talking about this show because I’m worried it’ll come out ridiculously over the top. I think this show is so good it’s hard to put into words. It’s an absolute “must see.”

Seinfeld. I’ve seen every episode at least twice and yet Seinfeld is still funny every time I watch it. Jerry, George, Kramer, and Elaine will never get old.
