Disney’s film adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical “Into the Woods” just started production a week ago, and we now have a taste of Meryl Streep as the desperate and terrifying witch in the woods.
The three-time Oscar winner may be decked out in one of her most frightening costumes to date. A tangled mane of stark white hair, ratty, curled claws and a tattered witch’s wardrobe round out the effect, successfully making her look quite intimidating.
Streep is playing a cursed witch who is out to get the curse reversed so she can regain her youth and beauty.
“Into the Woods” is a modern take on some of the Grimm Brother’s most beloved fairy tales, including “Cinderella,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “Rapunzel.”
Anna Kendrick is taking on the role of Cinderella, Johnny Depp goes dark as the Big Bad Wolf and Chris Pine is set to become Prince Charming.
“Into the Words” is currently set to hit theaters December 25, 2014.
