This week there are basically no new movies coming out on dvd, it seem to be a week for television, but there are one or two movies being released on dvd that are worth mentioning.
Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story
This movie stars Cuba Gooding Jr. and focuses on the story of Ben Carson. Ben as a child grew up in poverty and predjudice and even though his grades were not perfect and he had a temper, his mother refused to lose faith in him. Determined to give her son everything she never had, she encourages him to grow not only his imagination but his own faith in himself, which in the end leads Ben to become one of the world’s leading neurosurgeons. This movie has proven to be an inspiration to everyone who watches it, young and old, and it will certainly be the same for you.
Universal Horror: Classic Movie Archive
My love of early horror movies is one that is unmatched and every Halloween they find themselves coming out of the woodwork to undoubtedly bore my party guests, but this collection has some of the best 1940s horror movies ever made. The set includes The Black Cat (1941), Man Made Monster (1941), Horror Island (1941), Night Monster (1942), and Captive Wild Women (1942). Perhaps the only thing disappointing about this collection is that its release is limited to Best Buy which means once they are gone, they are gone. So get your set now before the price shoots up in a few months.
Love & Pain & The Whole Damn Thing
While it may seem that this week is nothing but old classic movies, that should never be considered a bad thing, because classic movies are often better acted with better scripts than the movies we see today. Thsi movie tells the two of two very mismatched lovers who meet in Spain and through a series of hilarious misadventures begin to fall in love. The pair have to get over their clashing personalities and the current conventions in order to finally reach happiness together.
