The Invention of Lying
This funny, quirky and yet satirical movie takes place in a little town where no one lies, they do not even have the concept of lying. But one man finds out that he can lie and with this lying comes a whole new realm of possibilities. One of these possibilities is that he can tell his mother that dying does not led to oblivion but to a wonderful afterlife, this is an idea that everyone believes and suddenly wants to know more about. With great acting and a story that will constantly take you by surprise, this movie is not to be missed.
Zombieland
This is the one that zombie fans have been waiting for. It’s crazy, fun and perhaps one of the best roles we’ll ever see Woody Harrelson in. The movie details four unlikely heroes who have survived the zombie epidemic and are desperately trying to get to an amusement park that is a zombie free zone. The highly anticipated celebrity cameo is perhaps one of the best scenes of the movie and if you have not heard who it is, it might just catch you off-guard. For a fun night out with plenty of zombie bashing check out this destined to be Blockbuster.
Whip It
If you are looking for a weekend filled with plenty of girl bashing then this is the movie for you. While you are watching this flim you may find yourself surprised that it is the director’s debut film, and you might even be more surprised to find out that director is Drew Barrymore. The little girl that grew up around movies apparently knows plenty about how to make them work because this movie does just about everything. The story centers around 17-year old Bliss who suddenly finds her calling when the roller derby comes to town. The rest of the movie focuses on female comraderie and overcoming obstacles in order to do what you love.
Capitalism: A Love Story
Everyone’s favorite biased documentary filmmaker is back and this time he is out to find out why the economy is in recession and where has all the money gone. He does so in a way that only presents one side of the story and while at times it does bring to light some unjust practices and stirring moments in the end it leaves us with nothing. There is no call to action, no answers, nothing but criticism. Though this romp through history does offer some moving words from the last president to see the U.S. through trying economic times, Franklin D. Roosevelt.
