Harry Potter’s beloved ‘Hagrid’ Robbie Coltrane bids adieu to the world leaving fans nostalgic and teary-eyed

A towering figure, but a softie at heart, notes ‘Variety’, Hagrid had a sweet spot for ferocious beasts. He cared for some of the ‘Harry Potter’ world’s most ferocious, and iconic, creatures.

Under his care was Buckbeak the hippogriff, Fang the boarhound, Fluffy the three-headed dog, Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback dragon, Aragog the massive talking spider, and the eerily majestic Thestrals.

In a heart-warming tribute to ‘Hagrid’ Robby Coltrane, Daniel Radcliffe said: “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set. I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on ‘Prisoner of Azkaban’ when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut.

“He was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up. I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”

Controversial ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling separately honored ‘Hagrid’ Robby Coltrane with a post on Twitter.

Robbie Coltrane death: actor found global stardom in Harry Potter films

“I’ve played gangsters and prostitutes, transvestites, murderers, everything you can imagine but it’s the first time I’ve played a man who was thoroughly good – and I played it for 10 years … a character that young people could totally trust in.”

Fitz, meanwhile, was an engaging mess of contradictions. Possessed of a brilliant, cold mind, he had frightening insight into the human psyche. Most episodes culminated with a glowering “Cracker” bullying a tear-stained, sick man into admitting his sexual frailties.

Fitz himself had no self-control. Emotionally sadistic, a misogynist, drinker and compulsive gambler, he created chaos in his personal life and treated his wife with contempt. Surprisingly, perhaps, women found this character attractive. Coltrane became a sex symbol.

Jimmy McGovern, writer of Cracker, had originally envisaged Fitz as a small, wiry man; when the first series of Cracker was made, Coltrane was a pallid-faced 20 stone, with a 56-inch waist. He had, in theory, little conventional star charisma, but proved perfect casting — a brooding presence with a compelling cynical edge and a liking for vicious monologues.

‘The pain goes away pretty quickly’: J.K. Rowling Disses Harry Potter Fandom, Claims As Long As Money Keeps Coming She Can Live With Losing Fans

As we all know, J.K. Rowling is one of the most prolific authors of all time for her successful work on the fictitious Harry Potter series. Still, there has been controversy surrounding her real-life views. Nevertheless, J.K. Rowling has become the talk on Twitter this week for how she responded to a critic who asked how the Harry Potter creator “sleeps at night.”

Joanne Rowling, also known by her pen name J.K. Rowling is the author of the much-loved series of seven Harry Potter novels, originally published between 1997 and 2007. In addition to selling over 500 million copies, the series has been translated into at least 70 languages and spawned a global media franchise that includes films and video games.

J.K. Rowling Doesn’t Care About Fans; Royalties Pay Her Off Enough

British Author J.K. Rowling sleeps peacefully and doesn’t mind losing ‘woke‘ fans since royalties continue flowing into her bank accounts. This week, on her Twitter account, where she has more than 14 million followers, the Harry Potter author answered a question posed by one of her fans: “How can you sleep at night knowing you are losing a huge audience?”

Despite being undiplomatic, Rowling responded aggressively to an online critic. Rowling responded in a tweet with more than 257K likes, “I read my most recent royalty checks and find the pain goes away pretty quickly.”

Rowling’s net worth has been estimated to range from $US650 million to $US1.2 billion, according to Business Insider.

J.K. Rowling Created Controversy Toward Transgender People

Since a few years ago, J.K. Rowling has been embroiled in controversy over her statements about transgender people, which many have labeled “hate speech.”

Several conservatives have tweeted positive things about Rowling, including Larry O’Connor, who wrote, “England still has a queen,” and the tweet from Rowling about transgender people was retweeted over 25,000 times and liked over 234,000 times.

Rowling, however, has been strongly criticized by the left, believing that her statements have a detrimental effect on thousands of transgender children.

Journalist Walker Bragman also replied against Rowling in her recent Twitter response regarding the dismayed Harry Potter Fandom.

Billionaire writer opposes policies related to transgender people. Recently, she highlighted a blog post written by the parents of a girl with learning disabilities who attends a special needs school. According to reports, the school implemented “cross-gender intimate care” instead of “same-sex intimate care.”

“I’m so fucking angry my hands are shaking,” the author said.

“I am the daughter of a disabled mother and have campaigned for the rights of vulnerable children for many years, but I remain constantly shocked at the cruelty and indifference shown to those who cannot advocate for themselves.”

She added,

“I urge anyone who feels as I do when reading this article to contact their MP, as I will be contacting mine and anyone else I know who can stand up to this horror show.”

In addition to Harry Potter fame, Robbie Coltrane is no longer with us. As Rubeus Hagrid in the popular franchise, the actor played a much-loved and memorable role. Unfortunately, a 72-year-old Coltrane died yesterday, according to reports. The social media world has begun condolences for the late actor. Besides the millions of fans, Daniel Radcliffe and J.K. Rowling also penned heartfelt condolences for Robbie Coltrane as they remembered their time together.

JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, took to Twitter and shared a sweet photo with the late actor; she also wrote a few lines in memory of him. It read,

“I’ll never know anyone remotely like Robbie again. He was an incredible talent, a complete one-off, and I was beyond fortunate to know him, work with him and laugh my head off with him. I send my love and deepest condolences to his family, above all, his children.”

Besides Harry Potter, he was known for his roles in Cracker, James Bond, GoldenEye, and The World Is Not Enough.

Our deepest condolences are extended to the family and loved ones of Robbie Coltrane at this challenging time.

LEGO Harry Potter 76400 Hogwarts Carriage and Thestrals [Review] – The Brothers Brick

The smallest set in the summer 2022 Harry Potter wave is 76400 Hogwarts Carriage and Thestrals. The set name really sums it up here – other than the minifigures and a very small bit of scenery, a carriage and some thestrals is all you get! Is it a good pocket money pickup? Let’s take a quick look at this set, featuring 2 minifigures and 121 pieces, which will be available starting June 19th for US $19.99 | CAN $24.99 | UK £17.99.

This set is based on a license The LEGO Group has with the Warner Brothers films, not J.K. Rowling directly. The transphobic views expressed by Rowling do not reflect the values of The Brothers Brick or, indeed, those of The LEGO Group. The magical world Rowling created, in which many who felt a bit different could see themselves, meant a great deal to so many people, including those that Rowling now demeans. TBB affirms each individual LEGO fan’s choice to claim a piece of the world for themselves, or to reject it entirely.

The LEGO Group provided The Brothers Brick with an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.

Contents and build

Inside the box are the instructions, a single unnumbered bag, and a loose adult Thestral. The bit of scenery adds some green to brighten up the mix. Let’s not dissemble, though – you’re here for the baby Thestral:

It’s cute! I’m sure it’s going to be popular. But it’s much more a miniaturized adult Thestral, or maybe an adolescent, than the spindly-legged baby with a too-big head wobbling on a tiny neck that we see Luna offer an apple. Those are tough proportions to pull off in a single mold, but the head could have been bigger at least. It’s also not a goat, though of course that’s completely unfair to the element designer. It is a very similar size, though. A paranoid LEGO fan might think we were being taunted a little.

The rest of the set is unremarkable. The carriage is serviceable, able to seat both minifigures, and there are a few greebles. The scenery is also quite basic, offering an impression of a tree. There’s nothing wrong with either of these builds in a low-end set, but neither is a reason to make the purchase.

The Minifigures

The choice of Harry and Luna makes sense for the subject matter, as Luna explains to Harry why he is able to see the Thestrals after Sirius’ death, and they visit a baby Thestral with the apple later. Both minifigures are also unique, though Harry’s printing is a combination of his common dark blue sweater over a Hogwarts uniform with Gryffindor tie, both of which have appeared frequently. Luna’s appearance is quite different from her other minifigures, and is a decent representation of her on-screen outfit. Both have back printing and alternate expressions.

Finished Build and Recommendation

This set is all about the Thestrals. The adult appeared before in 75951 Grindelwald’s Escape, and is a nice mold, with the wings fading from black towards transparent. The baby is of course entirely new, and will undoubtedly receive a lot of interest. If you don’t have many Harry Potter sets, this isn’t a bad one to pick up on a whim. If you’ve been collecting Harry Potter sets, though, the Thestrals on their own come short of feeling like good value at $20, and we recommend passing, or at least waiting until a sale.

76400 Hogwarts Carriage and Thestrals contains 121 pieces and 2 minifigures. It will be available from the LEGO Shop and worldwide starting June 19th for US $19.99 | CAN $24.99 | UK £17.99 or from Amazon. It may also be available from third-party sellers on eBay.

‘An incredible talent’: Actor Robbie Coltrane, Harry Potter’s Hagrid, dies at 72

Born Anthony Robert McMillan in Rutherglen, Scotland, Coltrane was in his early 20s when he began pursuing an acting career and renamed himself in honour of jazz musician John Coltrane.

He already had a notable screen career, with credits including Mona Lisa, Nuns on the Run and Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Henry V when he broke through on his own as a hard-bitten detective in Cracker, the 1990s TV series for which he won best actor at the British Academy Television Awards three years running.

He went on to appear in all eight Harry Potter movies as the young wizard’s mentor and had a wide variety of other parts, including a Russian crime boss in the James Bond thrillers GoldenEye and The World is Not Enough and Pip’s guardian Jaggers in a 2012 adaptation of Dickens’ Great Expectations. More recently, he received rave reviews for playing a beloved TV star who may harbour a dark secret in the 2016 mini-series National Treasure.

In a statement, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, 33, called Coltrane “one of the funniest people I’ve met.”

“As well as being a wonderful actor, he was forensically intelligent…, brilliantly witty …, and after 40 years of being proud to be called his agent, I shall miss him,” she said in a statement.

Jude Law back as Albus Dumbledore in new Harry Potter spinoff film

Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen face off as Albus Dumbledore and his evil nemesis Gellert Grindelwald in new posters for the latest instalment of the Fantastic Beasts prequel series.

A series of posters were released ahead of a new trailer tomorrow (Thursday) and show the rival wizarding factions of Dumbledore’s first army and the disciples of dark wizard Grindelwald.

Law will portray the future Hogwarts headmaster, with Mikkelsen playing his evil nemesis and Eddie Redmayne reprising his role of Newt Scamander, from the Fantastic Beasts films.

Mikkelsen took over the role of Grindelwald from Johnny Depp, who left the Harry Potter prequel series after losing a High Court battle against his ex-wife, Amber Heard.

Other stars appearing in his team of baddies include Ezra Miller, Alison Sudol, Poppy Corby-Tuech, and Aleksandr Kuznetsov.

Law and Redmayne are joined in their battle against the dark forces by Dan Fogler, Jessica Williams, Callum Turner, Victoria Yeates, William Nadylam, and Richard Coyle.

The official Fantastic Beasts account also showed some of the “global wizards” portrayed by Oliver Masucci, Maria Fernanda Candido and Dave Wong.

“A new power is waiting to rise against Dumbledore and the wizarding world,” Fantastic Beasts tweeted.

The Secrets of Dumbledore arrives in cinemas on April 8 with the new trailer due to be released tomorrow (Thursday).
